News continues as the start date for the Beijing Motor Show approaches later this month. For this opportunity, the brand BYD has revealed some details of its new electric sedan that will initially be sold in the asian giant’s market. This is the new BYD Seal EV, which as the name implies, features an ocean theme, making it a continuation of the Ocean X concept that was introduced over the past year. In this way, the new Seal EV it joins other models such as the Dolphin and the Destroyer.

Characteristics

The new BYD Seal EV measures 4,800 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,460 mm high, while the wheelbase extends by 2,920 mm. The Seal EV has been built on byd’s platform called e-platform 3.0. On the other hand, in terms of design, the Seal EV as we said at the beginning, is an evolution of the futuristic Ocean X concept, thus showing the constant improvement to which the original design has been subjected until reaching the definitive model for production. In this way, the new Asian sedan presents dynamic body lines, including the front with LED optics, but with conventional wheels with exclusive design for this model.

The engine of the new BYD Seal EV will be fully electric. This new sedan will come with two engine configurations: the first of them, the conventional model will have a single propeller on the rear axle that will produce between 150 kW or 230 kW of power (201 or 308 hp), while the second model, the flagship will come with two engines, one on each axle. In this way, for its front axle it will have a 160 kW (214 hp) engine and in its rear axle there will be another 230 kW (308 hp) engine. These motors will be powered from an 800V Blade battery that offers you a range of up to 700 km. With these specifications, the BYD Seal EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Its prices in China start from 220,000 yuan (31,482 euros) to 280,000 yuan (40,070 euros).
