There are models that have been designed to make history and especially in an electric market that does not stop renewing itself completely thanks to the innovation suffered by most of its models. Renault has not stopped doing so since the beginning of its history, and now during the manufacturing process of the new Megane E-Tech 100% electric have come to register more than 300 patents which have been used in one of the most revolutionary vehicles in the sector for its great performance.
At first glance we observe some plastic gates, which help the air resistance to be increasingly reduced and at the same time, have the possibility of lightening the weight of the car. All this also contributes to the internal essence of an amazing car, offering designers greater freedom to integrate the rear optics. In the case of the new gate, we find a clear commitment to simplicity. It is based on a new design that, combined with a new plastic injection process, allows to eliminate metal reinforcements and reduce the number of parts needed.
All this has been possible thanks to the hard work of Renault’s design team, where digital simulation andThe high technology available in plastic injection production engineering has been keys. As a result of all this, we find what was originally designed for the Eolab prototype, something that allowed its consumption to be one liter per hundred kilometers.
The innovations incorporated in the new Megane E-Tech 100% electric tailgateco have as main objective to reduce the weight of the vehicle and, therefore, increase its autonomy for the benefit of the user. They have led to two patent applications that will subsequently benefit seven other models in the Renault range, including Nuevo Austral.
Renault’s innovation in numbers
A weight saving of 4 kilos, equivalent to 5 kilos in a plastic tailgate. This is a significant reduction of several tens of euros per piece and an increase in its rigidity. To all this, it manages to simplify the process, thanks to the fact that there are fewer parts to assemble.
