There are models that are destined to make history from the first moment they have been designed and manufactured. High-end vehicles have not left indifferent in recent years, especially those of the Porsche brand, which have gained a large gap in a changing market and that needs new emotions. The in case ofl Porsche Taycan has made history again, and that is that a production electric car has achieved a new lap record at the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit.
In this case, it was from the hand of Lars Kern, current Porsche development driver, who made a time of 7 minutes and 33 seconds aboard a Taycan Turbo S. It is one of the most competitive sports saloons on the market, and it is not for less. Equipped with a newly developed high-performance kit and together with the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), it was completely standard, except for the competition seat and the necessary anti-roll bars.
With a weight that stays true to the factory model, the high-performance kit comes equipped with 21-inch RS Spyder wheels approved for road and Pirelli P Zero sports tires Corsa, which are now available for the Taycan. So that these compounds can be exploited to the maximum, the 4d chassis control software has been updated, analyzing the technological systems of the chassis so that they adapt to the possible changes that may occur.
The high-performance kit is offered through Porsche Tequipment. For now it can only be purchased in Germany and only for the Taycan Turbo S saloon of the model year 2023, which has started production at the end of last July. The kit is expected to be available by the end of this year. The idea is that the assembly will take place in Porsche’s workshops in Zuffenhausen after the delivery of the car. Transport to the factory and back to the place of residence is included, as is the necessary approval. The price of the kit is 13,377.32 euros, VAT included.
