When the cinema and the automotive industry come together, only historical models and more can come out in special editions. A few years ago they released the animated film Cars, known for its passion for the world of competition and speed, where some brands were present. One of them was Porsche, who have now taken a step forward and have taken out the ultra-limited edition of a 911 Sally Special and it does so with the support of pixar.
On Saturday, August 20, 2022, it will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s as part of Monterey Auto Week in California. Proceeds will be donated to two charities. A portion of the proceeds will benefit young women through a donation to Girls Inc. The other part will go to USA for UNHCR , an organization that supports refugees from Ukraine.
This project began in November 2021, when they joined and decided to release a special version. “The 911 Sally Special is based on the GTS variant of the 911 Carrera range, with 480 horsepower.. It is equipped with a manual gearbox, in keeping with Sally Carrera’s passion for driving.”, explains Boris Apenbrink, Head of Vehicles at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.
Porsche interior designer Daniela Milo?evi? led the team that worked with Pixar to generate the new blue color as well as the vehicle’s interior: “They gave us total freedom, it was great! In the film, Sally Carrera was a California lawyer who valued style and elegance. At the same time, he had his feet on the ground and was a fun lover.“.
In addition to the 911 Sally Special, the auction also includes other products, including a unique chronograph from Porsche Design, also created in collaboration with Pixar. Like the car itself, the outline of the dial is metallic Sally blue. The chalk-coloured leather strap with Blue Speed stitching underlines the sporty design of this watch. This project will be aimed at beneficial purposes and helping the most needy people.
