At a time like the current one where many firms have been working to incorporate their vehicles in a market as changing as that of video games, there are several firms that have entered a different universe. One of them is Porsche, which was present for the first time at Gamescom, the largest video game fair in the world, held in Cologne on August 24.

Taking advantage of this event, the centerpiece has been the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, whose appearance has changed during the fair: the artist Vexx painted it live with his characteristic style of street art. It is the first Porsche concept car to have been developed specifically for a video game.

Its world premiere took place in November 2021 and, from March 2022, it is possible to drive it exclusively in the new Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 and 5. Vexx is one of the best-known visual artists today and now the Belgian represents a modern youthful style and has given his peculiar vision.

An exciting project

Robert Ader, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Porsche AG said: “Porsche has steadily expanded its commitment to the gaming and eSports community in recent years; our appearance at Gamescom makes this clear. We have reached an important milestone with the Vision Gran Turismo as the first sports car developed purely for a virtual space. By painting it, Vexx has given it a whole new look. This is another way to show our enthusiasm for collaborations with creatives and the art scene, which we find mutually enriching.”

The urban artist Vexx has not sat idly by and assures that he has made one of his dreams come true by reinterpreting one of the most charismatic models of the firm: “For me, as an artist, it was a unique opportunity to create a completely new design for Porsche. The look fits both the Porsche brand identity and the aesthetics of the games. I’m excited that the community of players will be able to drive the vehicle virtually from now on., bringing my graphics to life and making them tangible.”
