The development of new models is possible thanks to the agreements of major brands. When two factories from different sectors such as the automotive industry and the manufacture of tires come together, only one revolutionary product can come out. Now it’s the turn of Mercedes Benz AG and Bridgestone, which work hand in hand to bring tyre development to fruition for an unprecedented technological program: the Mercedes Benz Vision EQXX.
Mercedes Benz has set out to take its future development into the electricity sector. The German firm aims to generate efficient electric vehicles and at the same time take a step further to autonomy. The tyre firm has worked hard to design bespoke tyres. These months of work have paid off and they have done so with a vehicle that lasts up to 1000 km, which is the distance between Sindelfingen (Germany) and Cassis (France), with a single load.
To carry out this project, Bridgestone surprised with Turanza Eco tires, which have worked in several areas to reduce rolling problems. Therefore, we can find some tires that have lowered their weight up to 20%. These tires have been enhanced thanks to a technology that allows to improve their autonomy thanks to the large diameter rubbers and a narrow aerodynamic design. Mercedes-Benz has also collaborated in this regard, thanks to work on the side areas optimizing it and generating a heel in line with the 20-inch magnesium wheels.
A virtual design
To design these tires they have taken the opportunity to make a simulation and virtual modeling. With this type of action, it is possible to promote the creation and digital testing of them in their development process. GThanks to artificial intelligence Bridgestone has boosted the durability of the tire and the different conditions that we can find.
Therefore, the flexibility that the tire can offer us, with the digital simulation makes us understand the different phases through which the tire will pass. This type of design allows us to have great environmental benefits, eliminating gas emissions by not manufacturing the different models.
