Lucid Motors revealed the Air Grand Touring Performance, the latest version of the electric sedan with 1050 hp of power and an EPA-estimated range of 446 miles or what would be equal to about 718 kilometers of travel. The model, which is priced at about $179,000 with first deliveries scheduled for June 2022, is a replacement for the sold-out Air Dream Edition Performance.
The mechanical qualities of the car
The Air Grand Touring Performance’s dual electric motors produce 1050 horsepower (783 kW/1065 PS), which is slightly less than the Air Dream Edition Performance’s 1111 horses (828 kW/1126 PS). Still, this makes it the most powerful electric vehicle currently available in North America.
It’s a fast car from scratch
The model can accelerate from 0 to one hundred kilometers per hour in about 2.6 seconds, 0.1 seconds slower compared to the Air Dream Edition. Similarly, the 446-mile (718 km) rating for the driving range is slightly shorter than the Dream Edition Performance’s 451 miles (725 km) with the same 21-inch wheels. 900V+ battery technology enables ultra-fast charging that adds up to 300 miles (483 km) of range in 21 minutes with a 350 kW DC charger.
The most powerful model
Lucid has also detailed the Air Grand Touring that offers 819 hp (610 kW /830 PS), which is more than initial estimates. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 100 kilometers per hour) in 3 seconds. Lucid claims an even longer EPA-estimated range of up to 516 miles (830 km) when equipped with 19-inch wheels (469 miles/ 755 km with 21-inch wheels), thanks to an “industry-leading” efficiency of 4.6 miles per kWh.
What can be seen from the outside
Visually, both Grand Touring models feature standard smart lens matrix LED headlights and 21-inch wheels shod with custom-made Pirelli tires. The Grand Touring Performance has the version-specific 21-inch Aero Sport wheels, while the Grand Touring can be had with 19-inch Aero wheels shod with all-season tires, allowing it to reach the maximum range rating.
Behind the car we have a small spoiler in the lid of the decorative trunk, brake lights or stop in LED that border the whole car, and a kind of rear diffuser in the lower central area of the bumper
The shades of the car
Customers can choose from five exterior shades, namely Stellar White, Infinite Black, Cosmos Silver, Quantum Grey and Zenith Red and four California-inspired interior themes i.e. Santa Cruz, Tahoe, Mojave and Mojave PurLuxe, which combine full-flower Nappa leather, Alcantara and wood trim.
Part of your technology
Both variants come with a long list of standard equipment, including a glass roof, the 34-inch glass cockpit with 5K resolution for infotainment, OTA software upgrade capability, the DreamDrive Pro ADAS suite complete with more than 30 security systems, a 21-speaker system Surreal Sound audio system compatible with Dolby Atmos technology, heated and ventilated front seats with massage function, soft door closing and electric trunk/trunk.
