With an investment of more than $400 million, the new institute will be led by Boston Dynamics founder Marc Ralbert. This center will have a priority that is research, working on the most important and difficult challenges to which the creation of advanced robots is faced. Elite talents from AI, robotics, computer science, machine learning and engineering will develop robot technology and use it to advance its capabilities and usefulness.
In this center, several areas of work will be generated, allowing the current research laboratories to be complemented with those of corporate development. To do this, they will focus on cognitive AI, athletic AI, organic hardware design, as well as ethics and politics.. Each discipline will contribute to the advancement of the advanced capabilities of the machines. In addition to developing the technology with its own staff, the Institute plans to partner with universities and corporate research laboratories.
In addition to the Institute, Hyundai Motor Group has separately announced plans to create a Global Software Center to lead the development of its software capabilities and technologies and enhance its capabilities to advance the development of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The Centre will be established on the basis of 42dot, an autonomous driving software company and mobility platform recently acquired by the Group.
