This is the case of Honda, which have taken a step forward and has presented a renewed model to celebrate its 25th anniversary within the high-performance hatchback segment. In this way, we find the new Honda Civic Type R, a high-performance model that maintains the essence and spirit of competition.
Few are the details that have transcended, but in Honda they have proposed to make a model that will always be remembered. To enjoy it in Europe we will have to wait for ourselves at the beginning of 2023, but this model has already begun to make history, breaking the fastest lap record of a front-wheel drive compact at the Suzuka circuit. To achieve a groundbreaking model, Honda engineers have perfected every aspect of the new model, including design improvements that optimize aerodynamic performance.
The design of the new Type R is inspired by the silhouette of the Honda Civic e:HEV, following the mentality of a definitive 2.0 sports car. With a lower and anch designor, it comes equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels. Outwardly, it conveys a great sense of unity, thanks to elements such as the front and rear bumpers, as well as superbly integrated design features such as the rear doors and wheel arches, which have been developed exclusively for the Type R.
On the inside, the emotion at the wheel and the concentration has been enhanced. Therefore, we find a refined model, where we have worked on functionality and comfort. So much so, that now the driver is sitting in a lower position that allows him to have a greater field of vision, all with a sports seat.
In terms of performance, the driver can switch seamlessly between performance settings, selecting different modes for the engine, steering, suspension and engine sound. In addition to the predefined Comfort, Sport and +R modes, it now also has the new Individual mode, which has been added to offer a personalized driving experience. All this makes it one of the most powerful models in its range thanks to a turbocharged VTEC engine.
