There are models that are destined to make history and this is the case of Honda Civic. Since its launch in 1972, more than 27 million units have been sold worldwide. These results confirm the good state of the brand and above all, that they are prepared to continue gaining a foothold in an automotive industry that needs them.
During all these years they have been present in more than 170 countries, and now, in their incorporation into the sixth decade of existence, are preparing to launch their 11th generation with the intention of remaining the reference in their segment and exceed all customer expectations. To do this, Honda engineers have been working to incorporate all the revolutionary technologies and thus offer a compact, spacious and fun model of riding.
In 1972 a model was presented that surprised with its compact design, its impressive fuel economy and its functionality. This model, had a revolutionary CVCC engine, being manufactured at the Suzuka factory and had a manufacturing volume of one million units. In 1979, building on the success of the original Civic, the second generation of the Civic is introduced with an improved 1.3-liter CVCC-II engine that delivers power more smoothly, as well as offering greater fuel economy.
Several years later they presented the fifth generation, which opted for more elegant and aerodynamic shapes, giving the model a sporty cut. This modelor had a VTEC engine of new development. It also incorporated for the first time the “Hondamatic” transmission, a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), which offered impeccable gear changes and fuel savings like that of a manual transmission.
The seventh generation arrived in 2000 and became the first Civic to offer hybrid technology in 2001. Now, in 2022 it has reached the 11th generation that combines performance and efficiency in all aspects. It is the latest model in the range that has been electrified and with it Honda fulfills its commitment of “Electric Vision” to electrify all its main models in Europe by 2022
