Customers in China can now buy a new FORD-brandED SUV. This is the model Equator, already known and sold in the market of the Asian giant, but in a seven-seater version. Well, from now on they can make the new Ford Equator Sport, a model in smaller version of the regular Equator that will come only for five occupants. The new one Equator Sport it will be available in china’s sales halls between prices of 139,800 yuan (19,870 euros) and 165,800 yen (23,570 euros). These prices are cheaper than the normal Equator that is sold from 169,800 yuan (24,137 euros).

A smaller SUV

Compared to the regular Ford Equator, the new Equator Sport is smaller. Its measurements cover 4,630 mm long, 1,935 mm wide and 1,706 mm high, while the distance between its axes measures 2,726 mm. In terms of design, the Equator Sport shares some common features with its older brother, with a front that adopts the latest Ford language, among which stands out an oversized hexagonal grille with thin LED optical groups, protective bars at the bottom of the front bumper, a sculpted body, aluminum details, while in the saga we have a spoiler at the end of the roof and a rear diffuser under the bumper.

In the cabin, customers will get a premium atmosphere with seats upholstered with imitation leather, wooden inserts in the dashboard and a panoramic sunroof. At the technological level we have two screens, one for digital instrumentation and one for infotainment. In the basic model the screens are 7 inches and 12.3 inches, while for the larger range model both are 12.3 inches. In the multimedia part it incorporates the Tencent TAI 4.0 system and in the field of safety, the ADAS system uses the Ford Co-Pilot 360.

Finally, the powertrain includes the turbocharged 1.5-liter EcoBoost block that yields 170 hp and 260 Nm of torque. This propeller will be associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The SUV will not be offered with all-wheel drive, only with traction on the front axle.
