Mulliner presented his latest creation, a bespoke Bentayga Speed commissioned by Bentley Orlando in Florida for one of his clients. The Bentayga Speed Space Edition is inspired by outer space with unique inside-out touches of style and is one of 100 individual applications completed by Mulliner in the first quarter of 2022, demonstrating the popularity of customization among luxury car buyers.

Starting with the exterior design, the space-themed Bentayga Speed features a Cypress paint with Orange Flame accents on the underbody. The dark metallic grey hue with subtle shades of green was inspired by the debut of the first-generation Continental GT in 2003, while the orange is reminiscent of the dust trails of comets. Blackline Specification was selected for the model, replacing the chrome elements with glossy black elements.

External qualities

From its front you can see a striking car, with a hood pulled forward, with lines that pair perfectly with the daytime running lights and the grille. The manufacturer’s slogan is kept in the center, right at the top of the grille in the form of a grille. On the sides of the bumper we have two direct air inlets to the engine. There is another third air intake in the central lower area. The “Orange” color line that runs throughout the car is powerfully striking.

On the sides we get black alloy wheels or wheels, with the manufacturer’s initial in the center, and hiding a brake system composed of discs and calipers on all four wheels. There is a detail in the rear area of the front guard. The door locks are the same body color. Mirror housings do not clash. The edges of the windows come in black.

We finish with the rear where we have a radio antenna in the form of a shark fin, decorative sports spoiler with a third stop in LED, brake lights or stop in LED, auxiliary lights embedded in the bumper, and two exhaust outlets.

Inside the cabin

Inside the cabin, illuminated stirrups welcome you with simple graphics that resemble planets orbiting a solar system. The most striking feature is the orange accents on the dashboard, steering wheel and gear lever, along with orange trim on the seats and door panels. Those contrast with Galaxy Stone’s inserts that appear to come from the surface of another planet, and the dark Beluga/Porpoise upholstery that resembles the night sky. Another interesting detail is the satin black speaker grilles of the Naim for Bentley sound system.

Mechanical capabilities

The bespoke edition is based on the Bentayga Speed, meaning it comes equipped with the more powerful 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine that produces 626 horsepower (467 kW/635 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from zero to one hundred kilometres per hour in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 306 kilometres per hour.

While the Bentayga Speed is no longer the world’s fastest SUV since the Aston Martin DBX707 raised the bar to 310 km/h (193 mph), it’s still pretty impressive when it comes to combining performance with luxury. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the SUV comes standard with air suspension and Bentley Dynamic Ride active roll control technology.

Final Details

Between 2016 and 2022, Bentley has sold 28,500 Bentaygas, making it the most successful model in its history. Bentley Orlando did not disclose the price of the custom space-themed model that will definitely have a hefty premium over the Bentayga Speed’s starting price of $250,000.
